Always Will

broken20heart1The saying “you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone” is tired, over-used and absolutely true. I’ve lived half a life time since I lay in bed with you and held you close with tears in my eyes from the sheer joy of my overwhelming love for you. I still feel it; always will. A.G.

You will never know true happiness
until you have truly loved,
and you will never understand
what pain really is
until you have lost it.

Seeing You Once More

My love for you is strong and keeps me going. No matter the distance; regardless of how much time, I’ll never stop trying to find you. Tragedy of war separated us, but I’ll keep moving; ever-moving step by step toward holding you once more in my arms. T.K.

Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above
Enjoy such liberty.
Richard Lovelace

A Nightmare

The only thing I learned from loving you is the power it gave you to crush me. Being with you was the most wonderful thing I have ever known, until you didn’t want me any more. I have no idea what changed.  What happened? I never knew I could cry so much. You really hurt me! M.S.

Life without you is not life but a nightmare;
A nightmare that eats my skin little by little;
A nightmare that pricks my soul until it feels no more.
Life is not life, without you.
Gary R. Hess

Too Tired To Do Anything Else

Love has found me several times. Each meeting then parting took away a piece of me. After losing you I don’t think there is enough of me left to ever love again. So I am just going to go on loving you even though you are not here. My heart is too tired to do anything else. C.B.

As you get older, the heart shed its leaves like a tree.
You cannot hold out against certain winds.
Each day tears away a few more leaves;
and then there are the storms
that break off several branches at one go.
And while nature’s greenery
grows back again in the spring,
that of the heart never grows back.
Gustave Flaubert

All Too Late

In our early years together you were magic to me. However, as the mystery unfolded to become the known I took you for granted and wandered off to find someone better. Too late I’ve learned you are the love of my life and now you won’t even speak to me. I’m a fool. A.B.

Love is easy to know,
easier to let slip away
and easiest to grieve for.
It is hard learned wisdom to realize
if I had spent as much energy on loving
as I have searching and yearning for love,
my heart would constantly run over with affection.
James Browning

Rest of My Life

Lust is a blinder. Trying to blame it on animal instinct makes me sound stupid. Saying it was only sex makes me look ignorant. Saying that me cheating on you was stupid is accurate and its price is so high I will be paying for it the rest of my life. I lost you my darling. C.B.

When you have indulged a lust, your wing drops off;
you become lame, abandoned by a fantasy.
…People fancy they are enjoying themselves,
but they are really tearing out their wings
for the sake of an illusion.
Rumi

On Way or Another

You’ve figured out I’m falling in love with you and you’re trying to make me stop by hurting me this way. Well it won’t work. One way or another, I’m going to make you care about me. Yes, I am, unless your cold attitude kills me first. If I’m going to be miserable, so are you. J.G.

No one ever fell in love gracefully.
Connie Brockway

Perpetual Sadness

I grieve the death of your love everyday. People I loved deeply have died. Bearing that grief was difficult, but it passed in time. Them being gone helped me accept their passing. Knowing you are still alive and doing well without me brings perpetual sadness. L.G.

Yet nothing can to nothing fall,
Nor any place be empty quite;
Therefore I think my breast hath all
Those pieces still, though they be not unite;
And now, as broken glasses show
A hundred lesser faces, so
My rags of heart can like, wish, and adore,
But after one such love, can love no more.
John Donne

Greatest Proof of Love

 I never said “I love you”, but thought you knew. You want romance, passion and love expressed openly which I can’t do. You deserve to have what you need. So I will let you go without my feelings ever being known. It’s the greatest proof of my love I have to give. S.S.

Looking back,
I have this to regret,
that too often when I loved,
I did not say so.
David Grayson

You’ll Never Know

You’ve gone home to a country on the other side of the world. You won’t be back. I don’t know how to reach you. You’ll never know I love you because I didn’t find the courage to say it. You’ll remember me only as a co-worker but I will carry you in my heart always. S.S.

Grey rocks, and greyer sea,
And surf along the shore —
And in my heart a name
My lips shall speak no more.

The high and lonely hills
Endure the darkening year —
And in my heart endure
A memory and a tear.

Across the tide a sail
That tosses, and is gone —
And in my heart the kiss
That longing dreams upon.

Grey rocks, and greyer sea,
And surf along the shore —
And in my heart the face
That I shall see no more.
“Grey Rocks and Greyer Sea” by Sir Charles George Douglas Roberts
