Freely From A Distance

broken20heart1You were ready. I wasn’t. I’m here. You’re there. But that changes nothing about the treasure I bear inside; the ability to love without want or desire tainting the purity of my feelings. I am proud of my grownup emotions that allow me to love freely from a great distance. N.C.

But I know this.
We’re ready to move
forward again in our way.
Together or apart,
no matter how far apart, we
live in one another.
We go on together.
Ann Brashares

Seeing You Once More

My love for you is strong and keeps me going. No matter the distance; regardless of how much time, I’ll never stop trying to find you. Tragedy of war separated us, but I’ll keep moving; ever-moving step by step toward holding you once more in my arms. T.K.

Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above
Enjoy such liberty.
Richard Lovelace

My Beautiful Butterfly

I can go days without talking to you, months without seeing you, but not a second goes by that I don’t think about you. My beautiful butterfly, what we shared was short in time, but long in memory. Where ever you are, I cast my love to the wind in hopes it can find you. A.P.

Love reckons hours for months, and days for years;
and every little absence is an age.
John Dryden

You’ll Never Know

You’ve gone home to a country on the other side of the world. You won’t be back. I don’t know how to reach you. You’ll never know I love you because I didn’t find the courage to say it. You’ll remember me only as a co-worker but I will carry you in my heart always. S.S.

Grey rocks, and greyer sea,
And surf along the shore —
And in my heart a name
My lips shall speak no more.

The high and lonely hills
Endure the darkening year —
And in my heart endure
A memory and a tear.

Across the tide a sail
That tosses, and is gone —
And in my heart the kiss
That longing dreams upon.

Grey rocks, and greyer sea,
And surf along the shore —
And in my heart the face
That I shall see no more.
“Grey Rocks and Greyer Sea” by Sir Charles George Douglas Roberts

Never Goes Away

Loving you was not the first time I’d given my heart, nor will it be the last. However, there’s something unmistakably unique about what I felt for you and feel to this very moment. I have resigned myself to it never changing. From a distance I will always love you. J.B.

Thinking of you is easy.
I do it every day.
Missing you is the heartache,
that never goes away.
Michael Pryce

Hurts the Deepest

You’ll never know I go to sleep thinking of you.  It’s then I lose myself in wishing we could be together as my imagination takes me to a place of secret fantasy. Then I remember you’re married and cry myself to sleep. You’ll never know how much I love you. T.M.

Love that we can not have
is the one that lasts the longest,
hurts the deepest
and feels the strongest…
Kay Knudsen

From a Distance

I have loved you for years but never made my feelings known to you. The courage to speak what was in my heart never came. You married another man and my feeling for you must remain forever a secret. My sad destiny is the heartbreak of loving you from a distance. C.L.

To him she seemed so beautiful, so seductive, so different from ordinary people,
that he could not understand why no one was as disturbed as he
by the clicking of her heels on the paving stones,
why no one else’s heart was wild with the breeze
stirred by the sighs of her veils,
why everyone did not go mad
with the movements of her braid,
the flight of her hands, the gold of her laughter.
He had not missed a single one of her gestures,
not one of the indications of her character,
but he did not dare approach her for fear of destroying the spell.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Afraid to Ask

You hardly want to touch me, but I remember when you couldn’t keep your hands off me. I’m the same person you said you’ve love forever. What happened? Did you get tired of me? Is there someone else? I feel there is, but am afraid to ask for fear you’ll say “Yes, there is”. A.N.

How do I mend a broken heart?
My entire world has fallen apart.
How do I find hope in a brand new day,
when the one I love has gone away?
My mind overflows with memories of you,
of all that we’ve shared, all that we knew.
I long for your touch and your warm embrace,
the look in your eyes, the smile on your face.
My dreams are filled with your soft gentle kiss,
I wake and cry for all that I miss.
From “Lost Without You” by Jenna

Why I Am Afraid

You’ll leave me soon. Your body still lives in the same home as me, but your mind, heart and soul is gone. Telling you I know about your secret lover would only hasten your departure. Knowing and living with you is killing me. Being without you is beyond my imagination. T.J.

You say that you love rain,
but you open your umbrella when it rains…
You say that you love the sun,
but you find a shadow spot when the sun shines…
You say that you love the wind,
But you close your windows when wind blows…
This is why I am afraid;
You say that you love me too…
Korkuyorum Turkish poem

Days of Absence

There are times when recollections of you float to the top of my mind and stick for a while before sinking back down into memory. Our wedding anniversary, the way you made my birthdays special and how much you love Christmas are just a few. I miss you still… B.G.

Days of absence,
sad and dreary,
Clothed in sorrow’s
dark array, –
Days of absence,
I am weary;
She I love
is far away.
Jean-Jacques Rousseau
