I Thought You’d Come Back

The phrase is over-used but accurate; “you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone”. I was self-absorbed and forgot you were as important in our relationship as me. I treated you badly. When you’d had enough; you left. I thought you’d come back, but you didn’t. V.M.

I know that’s what people say–
you’ll get over it.
I’d say it, too,
But I know it’s not true.
Oh, you’ll be happy again,

Like It Is Suffocating

I wake up some time and for a moment I don’t remember you’re gone. More than once I’ve picked my phone up to call you and then remembered you don’t want to hear from me. Life was challenging with you, but it is awful without you. My heart feels like it is suffocating. C.B.

I’m Lost

I am only me. No more. No less. You tried so hard to change me. If you didn’t like who I am why did you stay for so long? The bitterness from attempting to be someone you wanted will take a long time to get over. I’ve lost part of me and have to find it. I’m lost. L.E.

It’s not that you found somebody else. It’s that you rubbed that somebody in my face and made me feel like crap. Never have I cried so much. I get nauseous just thinking about you. So please, go away. I don’t want to be your friend. I don’t want to be your anything. G.O.

Two Different Puzzles

Once I looked clearly at all the pieces there wasn’t a puzzle anymore. We just don’t fit together. The two of us are far too different. It won’t work!  All the pieces are from two very different puzzles. It hurts like hell to say, but we’re not meant to be together. H.W.

Frustrated because I can’t tell if it’s real.
Mad because I don’t know how you feel.
Upset because we can’t make it right.
Sad because I need you day and night.
Angry because you won’t take my hand.
Aggravated because you don’t understand.
Disappointed because we can’t be together,
but still I’ll love you forever.

A Heart of Stone

I loved you. I really did. When we were together you got all I had; everything. But all wasn’t enough for someone like you who is afraid of being loved; who thinks he doesn’t deserve it. Your heart is lost. Until you find it and learn to love yourself no relationship will ever last.  A.P.

A Shattered Stained-Glass Window

I wish I could break all the mirrors in my mind that keep reflecting you. Memories haunt me. Sometimes I forget for an hour or two, then someone says something or I see a place that reminds me. Then I am heartbroken all over again wishing you’d come back to me. L.A.

Often I caught you lying and forgave you. I made it easy for you to deceive me repeatedly. But guess what! I got even with you for cheating on me. I just slept with your best friend. Why? Because you slept with best bud! Did you find the lipstick on my shirt yet? E.A.
