How you kept me from seeing what you were texting on your phone was a clue, but I let it go. I love you. Now your secrets are out. You’ve never been faithful to me and cheated the whole time. I’ll give you a second chance, but only one to deal with your addiction. C.B.
Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark,
in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite,
the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero
in your soul perish, in lonely frustration
for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach.
Check your road and the nature of your battle.
The world you desired can be won.
It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours.
Sometimes I break my own heart then realize it’s of my own doing. You have done nothing. Re-assembling the pieces, I know everything is okay UNTIL the next time my restless mind takes over again. Oh, what torture I put myself through for no good reason. C.T.
We are often insane with happiness.
We are also very unhappy for reasons
neither of us can do anything about.
Like being separated.
What a person wants is not always what he and she needs. By holding onto our differences so closely we made it impossible for us to make it long term. I wish we had behaved differently, but the damage is done. I’m sorry. I love you. Always will. L.W.
I’ve learned a lot of lessons
In the short time I have lived
I’ve learned how to appreciate
And I’ve learned how to give.
But in these past few months
There’s two I’ll remember most
I’ve learned how to love
And I’ve learned to let go.
You entered my life with such a force
And left it with one as strong
And though we tried to make it last
We both knew it wouldn’t be long.
And so I’ve learned to end this
Without an urge to cry;
These are my final words to you,
“I love you and goodbye.”
From “A Lesson”
by Monica-Angel Gellar
While I don’t think it’s intentional, I feel under-loved by you a good bit of the time. You have many people and things you appear to often put before me. Some like being on your phone constantly I just don’t understand. Maybe we are not as compatible as I thought we were. C.B.
Realize that if someone is only giving you
50% of themselves,
they’re telling you that they THINK
you’re not worth a 100% of them.
Instinctively I know one day you’re going to break my heart. You hide too much and keep secrets. When I ask to know more, you get upset and say you will never completely reveal yourself to me. I love you, but am addicted to being with you. C.B.
If you are going to love me, love me deeply.
If you’re going to break my heart, then break it all.
If you’re going to care, care for me completely.
If you decide not to hold me, then just let me fall.
If you are going to stay, then stay forever.
And if you want to leave, then do it today.
If you are going to change, then change for the better.
And if you are going to talk, then please mean what you say.
When you drink too much and lose control it scares me. Is that the only way you can have a good time? How many times in the past has your behavior left you deeply sorry for things you did? How long before you get drunk and do something that tears us apart? B.J.
Being drunk doesn’t change
who you are, it reveals it.
A sliver at a time, you pushed me away. You were never mean, but became distant. Why I stopped being desirable to you I’ll never know. I can’t live in a relationship where I’m just a furnishing like a chair. What happened? Why don’t you love me like you used to? J.B.
You can see a clock,
but you can’t see the time.
You can see my face,
but you can’t see my mind.
You can see the clouds,
but you can’t see the wind.
You saw my love for you begin,
but you won’t see it end.
Hurting me without explanation and later telling me it was for my own good is deceitful. It’s up to me to choose if I want to be with you. Your place is not to decide you’re fit or unfit for me. That’s about you selfishly battling your own demons; not what is best for me. R.P.
Perhaps the reason we are unable to love
is that we yearn to be loved, that is,
we demand something (love)
from our partner instead of
delivering ourselves up to him
demand-free and asking
for nothing but his company.
You hurt me in little ways you don’t even notice. Scanning and half reading my texts makes me wonder if you really care. Not calling when you say you will is upsetting. Making small promises and not following through pains me. Do you love me or not? B.R.J.
Don’t be mad
when someone else starts
to appreciate the person
you took for granted.
What you won’t do,
someone else will.
I believe you love me, but I’m afraid that will change some day. You’ve been with so many. There is no certainty that I, alone, can be enough for you. How do I calm my fear? Why did they leave you behind or did you leave them? My love is haunted by your past. G.T.
Afraid that I might lose you…
Afraid that you might find someone else…
Afraid that your love for me will end…
Afraid that everything we have gone through,
Might not mean the same as what it means to me…
Afraid that you’ll forget…
Afraid that you’ll give up…
Afraid that you’ll stop caring…
Afraid that you’ll get tired…
Afraid that something will come up and ruin us…
Afraid that you’re not afraid…
Afraid that I love you too much…
Afraid to lose you…
I fear it more than anything in this world…
Because you, my Dear,
is who my heart has chosen to love,
My fear is greater than I will ever be..
So I ask of you..
Simply love me more than you ever thought you could love…
Just love me….
